 Hello Fellow Citizens, of District One,

I am, John Krause and I am announcing my intention to seek the Republican nomination for United States House of Representatives to represent Florida’s First Congressional District, which includes Escambia, Santa Rosa, Okaloosa, Walton and portions of Holmes’s counties.

I am sure that each of us has seen our country from a number of viewpoints, depending on where we have lived and what we have done. For me, it has been as a boy growing up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, as a young man traveling throughout the county and later in Northwest Florida for most of my adult life. I have seen America from the skyscrapers as an iron Worker, and as a union worker, a musician, a Chaplin, a Private Investigator, an author, an entrepreneur, a self-made businessperson, and a volunteer. I have lived my fair share of highs and lows of the America Dream, like so many citizens of Northwest Florida. I have experienced the stressors owning a small business, making payroll, caring for employees/contractors, divorced, raising children in a multi-family environment, bankruptcy, foreclosure and many other life experiences.

 

There are those today, who would have us believe that a limited republic is now impossible, there is no longer a majority of citizens who is capable or willing to take responsibility for themselves and reject increasing government control and handouts. As such, we are in the final stages of our decline and like all democracies than ever existed; we will implode. Much of this talk has come from leaders who claim that our problems are too difficult for us to understand. We are not sophisticated enough. So that’s another administration where the citizen is always wrong. They are in a better position to determine the destiny of our children. They believe putting more restrictions on and taking more from honest, law-abiding citizens, and hardworking citizens.

 

I do not believe that. And I don’t believe you do either. That is why I am seeking to be your representative. I cannot and will not stand by and see this great country destroy itself. Our leaders attempt to blame their failures on circumstances beyond their control, on false estimates by unknown, unidentifiable experts who rewrite modern history as an attempt to convince us our high standard of living, the result of thrift and hard work, is somehow selfish extravagance which we must renounce as we join in sharing scarcity. I do not agree that our nation must resign itself to inevitable decline, yielding its proud position to other hands. Our leaders have one responsibility, and that is, to respect the oath they have taken to protect, defend, and follow the US Constitution, which equal to all.

 

The crisis we face is not the result from any failure of the American spirit; it is the failure of our leaders to establish rational goals and give our people something to order their lives by. If I am elected, I shall regard my election as proof that the people of Florida’s District 1 have decided to set a new agenda and have recognized that the human spirit thrives best when goals are set, and progress can be measured in their achievement.
