Hello Fellow District One Citizens,
I am John Krause and I’m asking you to nominate me for Florida’s First District U.S. House of Representatives seat in 2014 because it’s increasingly clear to me that profiteers and good old boy cronies are running the show in Washington. It’s their decisions, not yours and mine, that are impacting ours, our kids’ and our grand kids’ futures…and not for the better. Simply put, corruption is killing our middle class. I’m not willing to sit by and watch that happen. How about you?
Like many Northwest Floridians, my path to the Gulf Coast has been a winding one. As a boy growing up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and later a young man traveling the country, I’ve had the privilege of seeing America from a variety of perspectives: iron worker, musician, chaplain, private investigator, author, volunteer and self-made businessman. Through it all, I’ve rediscovered time and again that the vast majority of Americans are honest, hardworking people who just want the chance to make an decent living and leave something of value for their children and grandchildren. As you already know, every year that basic American Dream moves a little further out of reach. As our governments continue to take more and more from us, we’re somehow realizing fewer returns and ever-diminished freedoms despite those expensive investments.
Like you, I’m seeing corruption and abuse of power snowball at every level of government. I’m talking about fraud, waste and abuse like Wall Street bailouts, undemocratic “security” overreach, the Patriot Act, job-killing “free trade” scams, endless spending and handouts to benefit a few cronies and unfair taxing structures that are gradually bleeding our nation of its infrastructure and historic role as a world leader. There are people today who would tell you an honest government is now impossible; that a majority of citizens are no longer interested or willing to take responsibility for checking the excesses of a powerful few.
I don’t believe that. And I don’t think you do either. That’s why I’m asking you to let me represent you in Washington, where the worst of the problem lies. I’m not willing to stand back and watch our great country implode, and I can’t sit back and wait for somebody else to step in and make a change. Please help me make that happen.
The crisis we face is not the result of any failure of the American spirit; it is the failure of our leaders to curb corruption and ensure government works for We the People instead of a selected few. If I am elected, I intend to regard your trust as proof that the people of Florida’s District One have decided to set a new agenda and recognize that fair, honest government thrives best when the stealing is kept to a minimum, honest services goals are set, and We the People realize the maximum return from the duly Constituted government set down by, of and for us all.
